Tiramisu (Classic Italian No-Bake Dessert)

Tiramisu

What You Need:

  • 200g ladyfinger cookies (they look like dry biscuits).
  • 250g Mascarpone cheese (soft cheese).
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ⅓ cup of sugar
  • ¾ cup cold heavy cream
  • 1 cup brewed coffee (make it strong, let it cool).
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • Cocoa powder (for topping)

How to Make Tiramisu Step by Step

Make the Cream

  • Put egg yolks + sugar in a bowl.
  • Place it over a pot of hot water (not inside). Whisk for 5–6 minutes until light and creamy. Let it cool.
  • In a new bowl, whip together the cold cream until fluffy.
  • Gently mix in the mascarpone.
  • Now gently fold in the whipped cream. Put it in the fridge for 15–30 minutes.

Dip the Cookies

  • Mix the coffee + liqueur (if using) in a dish.
  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee for 1–2 seconds only. Don’t let them soak for too long.

Layer Your Tiramisu Cake

  • In a square or rectangular dish:
  • Add a layer of dipped ladyfingers
  • Spread half of the cream mix
  • Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers
  • Spread the rest of the cream

Chill and Finish

  • Cover and chill in the fridge for 6 hours (overnight is best).
  • Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.
