Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked white rice (cold works best).
  • 1 cup chopped kimchi (with some juice).
  • 1 egg (optional, for topping)
  • 1 tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste – optional for spice)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oil (any cooking oil)
  • 1 tsp garlic (chopped)
  • Spring onions or sesame seeds (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add chopped garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  • Add the kimchi and cook for 2-3 minutes until it smells strong.
  • Stir in the gochujang (if using) and soy sauce. Mix well.
  • Add the cold rice and break up any lumps. Mix everything evenly.
  • Cook for another 2–3 minutes until hot.
  • In a separate pan, fry an egg sunny side up (if using).
  • Serve the rice hot with the egg on top and garnish with spring onions or sesame seeds.
